Lindsey Copeland joined the Medicare Rights Center as the federal policy director this past December. Based in the Washington, DC office, Lindsey is responsible for formulating, directing, and implementing Medicare Rights’ federal policy and advocacy agenda. She informs policymakers, stakeholders, and the press about the challenges facing people with Medicare, as well as the administrative and legislative solutions that Medicare Rights supports to address these issues.

Ms. Copeland brings extensive federal health and aging policy experience to her role. She earned a J.D. from the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School of Law, is admitted to the Virginia bar, and holds a B.A. in English and Political Science from Hollins University. Prior to joining Medicare Rights, she led national advocacy campaigns, advanced policy goals, and provided strategic guidance as the director of public policy and advocacy for Lutheran Services in America—one of the nation’s largest networks of health and human services providers—and as the director of policy and legislative affairs for NASUAD, the Washington, DC voice for the nation’s 56 state and territorial agencies on aging and disabilities.

“We are thrilled that Lindsey Copeland has joined our team as the new federal policy director,” said Joe Baker, president of Medicare Rights. “Lindsey’s extensive policy and advocacy experience will help to further our efforts to ensure that people with Medicare can access the affordable health care they need. With Medicare—and other public programs that provide health security to America’s families—at risk, we are fortunate to have Lindsey on board working to protect the programs we all depend on.”
