Comments on Inappropriate Steering of Individuals Eligible for or Receiving Medicare and Medicaid Benefits to Individual Market Plans
The Medicare Rights Center (Medicare Rights) appreciates the opportunity to respond to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Request for Information (RFI) regarding inappropriate steering of individuals eligible for or receiving Medicare and Medicaid benefits to individual market plans. Our response to this request is informed by our experience assisting individuals and their family members as they navigate the transition to Medicare, including for those aging into the program, those becoming eligible due to receipt of Social Security disability benefits (SSDI), and for those with End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) who may apply for Medicare. Given that the RFI was accompanied by a letter to dialysis providers, our comments underscore unique enrollment considerations for the ESRD population…
