Alia Smith

Education Associate
Alia Smith joined the Medicare Rights Center in 2026 as an Education Associate. In collaboration with the Education department and legal counsel, she develops content for Medicare Interactive and creates comprehensive training materials for diverse consumer and professional audiences. She also contributes direct counseling assistance to beneficiaries on the national helpline.

Alia graduated from the University of Chicago and holds an M.A. in the Social Sciences and a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology. She comes to the Medicare Rights Center with a background in research and a passion for informed, equitable access to healthcare. In her free time, she enjoys live music, coffee, and exploring the city.

The Medicare Rights Center is a national, nonprofit consumer service organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and advocacy, educational programs, and public policy initiatives.

Since 1989, we’ve been helping people with Medicare understand their rights and benefits, navigate the Medicare system, and secure the quality health care they deserve. We strive to be the most reliable source of independent, unbiased Medicare information in the United States.
