Statement by Joe Baker, president of the Medicare Rights Center,
on the Part B Prescription Drug Model

Washington, DC—While the Part B prescription drug model will not move forward in this Administration, President-elect Trump has an opportunity to stay true to his word to bring down rising prescription drug prices. The incoming Administration should work to strengthen and implement the proposal by responding to sincere concerns, as opposed to those motivated by profits.

Some inside the beltway will call this a victory. But let’s be 100% clear—people with Medicare are not the winners here. Our helpline counselors will continue taking calls from distraught seniors and people with disabilities who simply cannot afford soaring prescription drug prices.

The new Administration, Congress, and many decision-makers in Washington would do well to live a day in the lives of these callers.
