Medicare Rights President Fred Riccardi Testifies About Expiring Medicare Programs

Washington, DC—Today, Medicare Rights Center President Fred Riccardi testified at a hearing of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, Subcommittee on Health titled “Investing in America’s Health Care.”

In his statement, Riccardi urged Congress to address several expiring Medicare-related programs in a health care “extenders” package later this year. These initiatives, which help improve the health and financial security for people with Medicare, include outreach and enrollment assistance for low-income beneficiaries, the Limited Income Newly Eligible Transition (LI NET) Part D safety net program, and funding for the National Quality Forum. He also urged Congress to prioritize the bipartisan, bicameral BENES Act (S. 1280/H.R. 2477) for passage this year.

Together, these programs and resources help ensure that all people with Medicare have access to affordable, high-quality care.

Full written testimony is available here.
