–Statement by Medicare Rights Center President Fred Riccardi–
Washington, DC—The House of Representatives pushed through a bill that takes aim at health care, rips coverage from people with Medicare and Medicaid, and leaves millions of others without critical marketplace financial assistance. Together, these attacks will leave at least 13.7 million people without coverage solely to fund a partisan tax bill that helps the richest and harms everyone else. This bill spikes the deficit, piles on unfairness, and makes it harder than ever for people to meet their basic needs.
The bill now goes to the Senate, and we urge Senators to stop and think. Older adults cannot afford these changes. People with disabilities cannot afford these changes. Families cannot afford these changes. The health, access to care, and financial security of millions are on the line.
