The Medicare Rights Center is a nonprofit organization under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), federal tax ID #13-3505372. Contributions to Medicare Rights are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable under the law.

Your Donations at Work:

$50 helps a client enroll in Medicare.
$100 helps a client enroll in low-income assistance programs that help pay for health care costs. Each enrolled individual saves an estimated $6,500 annually and gains access to needed care and prescription drugs.
$250 trains a volunteer to field questions on the helpline. Volunteers provide over 8,000 hours of service to clients each year.
$500 assists five clients in appealing denials of coverage for needed care and prescription drugs.

Gift of Stock

Donating appreciated stocks or securities to the Medicare Rights Center may sometimes be more advantageous than gifts of cash. Here’s why:

 

  • Gifts of appreciated securities may reduce the tax you pay on capital gains.
  • In some circumstances, you can deduct the full value of the stock as a charitable contribution.

Please consult your financial advisor to determine the tax implications of making a gift of stock to the Medicare Rights Center. You may donate a gift of stock electronically. If you do decide to donate stock, please notify the Medicare Rights Center or have your financial advisor or broker do so, providing your name, the name of the contributed stock, the number of shares, and the date of the transfer.
