Protect Medicaid—Tell Your Senators to Reject Harmful Cuts!

Republicans in the House of Representatives recently pushed through a bill that would implement devastating cuts to Medicaid. Now the bill goes to the Senate, where lawmakers will consider changes, with the goal of final passage this summer.

The House bill’s drastic Medicaid cuts would put older adults, people with disabilities, and low-income families at risk. These policies would harm everyone covered by Medicaid—including millions of people who rely on both Medicaid and Medicare for their health, well-being, and financial security.

We Must Take Action Now!

Medicaid is essential health coverage. For those who are enrolled in both programs, it plays a critical role. It can cover Medicare premiums and out-of-pocket costs, provide long-term care, and ensure access to critical services that Medicare alone does not cover. Slashing Medicaid funding would make it harder for many people with Medicare to afford care, stay in their homes and communities, and get the support they need.

As the budget process moves forward, now is the time to make your voice heard. Tell your lawmakers to protect Medicaid, Medicare, and everyone who relies on the programs.

More Ways to Make an Impact

With key decisions happening now, lawmakers need to hear from you. Medicaid must be safeguarded—not gutted.

Use this call-in line provided by SEIU and convey these talking points:

  • Tell your Senator: No Cuts to Medicaid. Whether it’s work requirements, eligibility changes, or reduced funding—a cut is a cut and will have devastating consequences.
  • Medicaid and Medicare Work Together. A cut to Medicaid is a cut to Medicare. These programs are interconnected, ensuring older adults and people with disabilities receive the care and support they need.
  • Cuts Have Real Consequences. Any reduction in Medicaid funding means fewer services, higher costs, and loss of access to essential health and long-term care for older adults, people with disabilities, and their caregivers.
  • Millions Rely on Medicaid. Over 7 million older adults and 12 million people with Medicare depend on Medicaid. Slashing the program would cause serious and lasting harm.
  • Make It Personal. Lawmakers need to hear how Medicaid impacts their constituents. Use this map to find out how many people in your district rely on Medicaid and share that number with your representatives.
