The Medicare Rights Center (Medicare Rights) appreciates this opportunity to comment on the Medicaid Community Engagement interim final rule with comment period. Medicare Rights is a national, nonprofit organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and advocacy, educational programs, and public policy initiatives. Each year, Medicare Rights provides services and resources to over three million people with Medicare, family caregivers, and professionals. Our mission is to support people with Medicare and to advance policies that improve coverage and the enrollee experience.
These comments are informed by decades helping older adults and people with disabilities enroll into Medicare for the first time, access high-quality care, and navigate complex benefits.
Any changes to the Medicare program must aim for healthier people, better care, and smarter spending—not paying more for less. As policymakers debate the future of health care, we will provide our insights here.
