The Medicare Rights Center is a national, nonprofit consumer service organization that works to ensure access to affordable health care for older adults and people with disabilities through counseling and advocacy, educational programs and public policy initiatives.
Since 1989, we’ve been helping people with Medicare understand their rights and benefits, navigate the Medicare system and secure the quality health care they deserve. We’re the largest and most reliable independent source of Medicare information and assistance in the United States.
Our offices are located in New York City and Washington, D.C., and through our bilingual telephone helplines, online resources, large volunteer network and community programs, we work with people with Medicare no matter where they’re located.
Today, there are 49 million people with Medicare—and we’re here to help them, their caregivers, their advocates and the health care professionals who serve them. We empower Americans to help themselves, and when they need it, we take action on their behalf.
Quality health care is a basic human right. Inspired by the struggles and stories of the men and women we serve, we seek a stronger, more effective Medicare program—one that should be a model to deliver health care to all Americans.
What do others think about us
“Thank you so much for responding to my letter. And in one paragraph you answered every question that neither my pharmacist nor doctor could tell me… I have about two major surgeries left and then hopefully can get back into some semblance of my former life….when that happens… I will remember all the help I have received from the Medicare Rights Center.”
Mr. J, Indiana
“This is such a huge relief!! Thank you for your help. I felt they were wrong from the beginning… but the longer it took to get an answer, the more concerned I became. But it was worth the wait! Thank you again!”
