Medicare Rights Center Names Deane Beebe as Vice President of Communications and Outreach
New York, NY—Deane Beebe has been named by the Medicare Rights Center as vice president of communications and outreach, a newly created position. Ms. Beebe is returning to the Medicare Rights Center where she first served for over eight years as the director of communications. During that period, she assisted journalists from consumer and trade press with their coverage on the legislative developments and implementation of the Medicare drug benefit, and helped them to provide timely and accurate information to consumers on all of their Medicare benefits and options.
“We are delighted that Deane Beebe has returned to the Medicare Rights Center to help us continue to grow the organization and further our mission,” said Medicare Rights Center President Joe Baker. “She brings well-honed strategic communications skills, a breadth of experience at mission-driven organizations focused on health care, aging, and disability issues, and a strong commitment to ensuring that older adults and people living with disabilities can get the health care they need.”

In her new role as vice president of communications and outreach, Ms. Beebe will be charged with developing and implementing the organization’s communications and outreach strategy, including strengthening relationships with the press, developing new partnerships, attracting and sustaining new donors, and increasing the organization’s visibility.
Ms. Beebe’s communications career spans over three decades at nonprofit organizations and government agencies devoted to aging, disability, health, and/or health access issues. Most recently, she was the director of media relations and public education at PHI (Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute) where she worked to improve long-term care by improving the quality of direct-care worker jobs, including helping to wage a successful national campaign to extend federal labor protections to home care workers under the Fair Labor Standards Act. She also served as editor of the biweekly newsletter on the direct-care workforce. Ms. Beebe has held communications positions at several organizations, including the Visiting Nurse Service of New York’s Center for Home Care Policy & Research; International Longevity Center; American Federation of Aging Research; and Massachusetts Departments of Public Health and Public Welfare.
Prior to working in communications, Ms. Beebe was a geriatric social worker in Boston, Massachusetts. She holds a master degree in mass communications from Emerson College and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from SUNY Buffalo.
