Education Associate
The Medicare Rights Center (MRC) is a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that people with Medicare get good affordable health care through direct services, education and advocacy initiatives. MRC is the largest independent source of Medicare information in the United States.
MRC seeks a college graduate with excellent writing, communication, research, presentation, and computer skills to develop online and print educational materials for people with Medicare and the professionals who serve them. Candidates should have 1-3 years of experience in a relevant field, such as writing, education, and/or advocacy. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and solid multi-tasker who is comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Experience translating complicated concepts into understandable prose a plus (news or education writing experience helpful). This position will report to the Director of Education.Responsibilities include:
- Creating and editing online and print educational materials and presentations for consumers, professionals and organizations;
- Researching details of Medicare coverage and other health care-related topics;
- Updating materials to reflect ongoing changes in Medicare policy and coverage;
- Writing and editing newsletters;
- Conducting training seminars and community outreach presentations; and
- Working closely with marketing director to make web-based counseling tool widely available.
Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint required. Familiarity with HTML and knowledge of Medicare a plus.
