Through the Community Partners program, we provide a range of technical assistance to partner organizations as they strengthen their Medicare counseling to clients, with an emphasis on helping older adults and people with disabilities access low-income benefits that help pay costs related to Medicare.
Our intensive mentoring and technical support will build your capacity to counsel clients on Medicare and successfully screen, apply, and enroll eligible individuals in Medicare Savings Programs and Extra Help.
The Community Partners program can provide your organization with the following services:
Assessment of your current counseling services, geared at improving the effectiveness of your organization’s Medicare counseling and enrollment work.
Trainings and Workshops
Workshops and trainings about Medicare basics, with particular emphasis on Medicare low-income benefits.
Technical assistance and mentoring for your staff, with the goal of maximizing clients’ Medicare coverage and increasing access to Medicare low-income programs.
Data Tracking and Analysis
Database for tracking enrollments from initial contact with the client to annual recertification for benefits, as well as assistance quantifying the overall value of benefits and other services to your clients and community.
Medicare Rights will provide intensive on-the-job training and mentoring to enhance your staff’s knowledge and client advocacy skills, helping frontline staff become experts in Medicare low-income benefits and related questions. In addition, Medicare Rights will provide you and your staff with a set of tools that you can use to track client outcomes, as well as mediate problems with appropriate government agencies to ensure client access and enrollment.
Medicare Rights’ enrollment experts are available to provide telephone and e-mail guidance to your organization, to help ensure that your clients receive the assistance they need. Medicare Rights can also provide your organization with bilingual outreach and educational materials, including guides to complex topics, checklists, and user-friendly newsletters. In addition, you and your staff can turn to Medicare Interactive (www.medicareinteractive.org) for help answering tough Medicare questions.
Past Community Partners of the Medicare Rights Center have increased the units of service they provide to Medicare beneficiaries through their participation in this program, helping attract new support for their agencies. As part of the program, Medicare Rights will help your organization track project outcomes and quantify the overall value of benefits and other services, for making a case to funders and others for ongoing project support.
The MedicareRightsCenter tailors in-person trainings and assistance to the needs of Community Partners, typically providing intensive support for three to four months, with additional technical assistance provided for up to a year or more. As a Community Partner, your organization will work closely with Medicare Rights to identify objectives and desired outcomes, and develop a workplan for achieving them.
The first step in becoming a Community Partner is to complete a brief partnership assessment and schedule a time to talk in more detail. For more information contact Fred Riccardi: firstname.lastname@example.org.
