Stacy Sanders Named Medicare Rights Center’s Federal Policy Director
New York, NY—The Medicare Rights Center has named Stacy Sanders as its new Federal Policy Director. Ms. Sanders previously led national policy campaigns to enhance income security for older adults at the National Community Reinvestment Coalition and Wider Opportunities for Women. Ms. Sanders’ experience ranges from advocacy on responsible banking for older adults to protecting and strengthening Social Security for older women.
As Federal Policy Director, Ms. Sanders will be responsible for formulating, directing and implementing the federal policy and advocacy work in the Washington, D.C. office of the Medicare Rights Center. She will focus her efforts on continuously informing policymakers in Congress and the Administration, as well as other key stakeholders including fellow advocacy organizations and the press, about the problems facing Medicare consumers, and the administrative and legislative policy remedies that the Medicare Rights Center supports to address those problems.
“We are delighted to welcome Stacy as the new Federal Policy Director,” said Medicare Rights Center President Joe Baker. “She brings to this new role critical experience working to build economic security for older adults through national, state and local advocacy campaigns.”
“This is an exciting time to work on Medicare, aging and health policy issues,” said Ms. Sanders. “Particularly as baby boomers age into Medicare by the millions and policymakers debate the future of this vital program and seek to increase value while cutting health care costs.”Ms. Sanders completed her Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan as a fellow of the Hartford Partnership Program for Aging Education. She is an Executive Fellow of the Center for Progressive Leadership, a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance and served as co-chair of the Income Security Committee of the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations in 2011.
