Randi Weingarten, President, United Federation of Teachers, and FJC, a Foundation of Philanthropic Funds, Honored at Medicare Rights Center Celebration Dinner

Jane Brody, New York Times Columnist and Best-Selling Author, Receives Award for Excellence in Health Journalism

New York, NY -The Medicare Rights Center will honor Randi Weingarten, president of the United Federation of Teachers, and FJC, a Foundation of Philanthropic Funds, at its Celebration Dinner 2007 at the Tribeca Rooftop on Monday, October 29, at 6:00 p.m. The New York Times columnist and best-selling author Jane Brody will receive the Medicare Rights Center's first "Award for Excellence in Health Journalism" at the event. Francis and Frank Cardile, Medicare Rights Center's clients of Islip, New York, who appeared in the Michael Moore film "Sicko," will also be recognized at the event.

Robert M. Hayes, president of the Medicare Rights Center, a national consumer service organization, will preside at the 2007 Celebration Dinner, which is being held to raise funds for the Medicare Rights Center's programs that help older and disabled Americans get access to good and affordable health care.

Among the presenters will be Denis Hughes, President of the AFL-CIO; MRC Board President, Marilyn Moon, Vice President for Health, American Institutes of Research; MRC Vice President, Bruce Vladeck, Executive Director, Health Advisory Services, Ernst & Young; and .MRC Treasurer, Alan B. Lubin, Executive Vice President, New York State United Teachers.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner, a short program, and light entertainment.
