Managed Care
Consumer Assistance Plan (MCCAP)
What is New York City MCCAP?
The New York City Managed Care Consumer Assistance Program (MCCAP) was created by the New York City Council in response to consumers’ demands for help with managed care, or Medicare HMOs. The Community Service Society of New York administers the program with funding from the New York City Department of Health.
The MCCAP is a resource for general information about HMOs, for specific information to help you understand your HMO, and for counseling and advice when you need help getting specific services. MCCAP can help you with managed care questions and problems so that you and your family can get the best health care you need. For more information about MCCAP services, go to www.mccapny.org.
What is MRC's role in MCCAP?
MRC is the Medicare managed care expert. MRC provides back-up technical assistance as well as direct case assistance to all of the MCCAP partners and their clients with Medicare-related questions. With MCCAP funding we also host four walk-in clinics a month --one in Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and Queens to help New Yorkers with Medicare HMO questions and problems.
For more information on MRC's MCCAP services, please contact the MCCAP Coordinator.
