The Medicare Rights Center (Medicare Rights) is pleased to submit comments on the proposed Revisions to Requirements for Discharge Planning for Hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, and Home Health Agencies (NPRM).
These comments are informed by our experience working with Medicare beneficiaries and their families, particularly callers to our national helpline seeking assistance following a hospital inpatient or outpatient stay. We often hear from beneficiaries uninformed or confused about when a hospital discharge will occur, where the beneficiary will be discharged and why, and what care plan follows from a hospital stay.
Any changes to the Medicare program must aim for healthier people, better care, and smarter spending—not paying more for less. As policymakers debate the future of health care, we will provide our insights here.
Thinking ahead to Medicare's future, it’s important to modernize benefits and pursue changes that improve how people with Medicare navigate their coverage on a daily basis. Here are our evolving 30 policy goals for Medicare’s future.
